WORK is continuing on the Aconbury East building at Worcestershire Royal Hospital to complete the new and expanded Emergency Department, which is expected to open later this year.
And ahead of the opening of the new lifeline, Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust has revealed some of more ‘Ssssssurprising’ injuries seen by medics.
Snakes
Worcestershire isn’t well known for its snake population. But staff still treated six people last year at the county’s A&E departments for snake bites.
Spiders
Staff also treated 21 people for spider bites.
‘Lodged Lego’
A total of 18 patients have turned up to Accident and Emergency in the last year with an item lodged up their nose, such as Lego…
These patients were just some of the 12,659 the trust attends to each month in its accident and emergency departments.
