A POPULAR Evesham furniture reuse charity was honoured at the Worcestershire County Council Worcestershire Works Well bi-annual event held at the Bank House in Worcester.
Roundabout was presented with the prestigious level two Worcestershire Works Well accreditation which recognised the charity’s work to improve the health and well-being of their staff and volunteers.
The accreditation panel hailed staff from the Blackminster charity for their commitment to looking after all who work there through a wide range of schemes such as discounted gym membership along with healthy eating programmes for everyone’s benefit.
Company secretary Teressa Brimm has been the driving force behind the campaign and said: “Healthier people tend to be happier, tend to play an active role and contribute to society and the economy through their families, local communities and workplaces. I am extremely proud of what has been achieved at Roundabout.”
Manager Peter Andrews said: ‘Health and well-being is firmly embedded in our culture. Over a third of our 50 plus volunteer workforce are living with or are recovering from mental health issues and other health conditions and so it is vital for us to raise awareness of other significant health issues and to support staff and volunteers to make healthier lifestyle choices’.
Worcestershire Works Well is a free accreditation scheme designed to enable local businesses to improve the health and well-being of their work force.
To achieve accreditation a business should meet specific standards in nine areas including smoking and tobacco control, healthy eating and mental health and well-being.
