Residents urged to take note of bin day changes

Evesham Editorial 15th Oct, 2018   0

COUNCIL chiefs have advised Evesham and Pershore residents of changes to many bin collection rounds across the Vale which come into force this week.

Wychavon bosses have sent letters to local residents informing them of changes to their bin collections to ensure they put the right bin out on the right day.

Changes coming into force will see 70 per cent of residents have a change to their bin collection day or time and 40 per cent have a change to which bin they’ll need to put out.

The changes taking place to ensure rounds are as efficient as possible. Increased numbers of houses and the move from Hill and Moor to Hartlebury for some disposal of waste has meant changes are necessary.

Coun Emma Stokes, portfolio holder for environment and street scene said: “Although these round changes may present short term inconvenience, we’re doing all we can to ensure they’re as pain free as possible.

“Residents will receive a letter detailing their new day, which week to put out which bin or telling them if there is no change for them. Residents are also reminded to put their bins out at 7am to ensure they’re not missed.”

Vale residents with garden waste bins who previously had their collection day on a separate day to their other collections will now be brought together on the same day as their green bin collection, meaning they only have one day to remember.

The changes also correspond with the launch of new items that can be recycled. This includes small electrical items like hairdryers, batteries and textiles – the leaflet explains how to present these items alongside your black bin on residual week.
