Residents urged to join fight against fly tipping

RESIDENTS arranging for waste to be disposed of are being warned they must ensure those tasked with dumping it do so legally.

People are also urged to check the Environment Agency website to ensure the firm they are using is a registered provider.

It follows an incident at 1pm last Friday when a load of rubbish was dumped in Hadley Heath.

It involved a white high-sided tipper truck with writing on the side which left the load in the middle of a road, posing a danger to drivers.

Wychavon District Council is currently investigating the incident and examining evidence left at the scene.

But the authority also wants anyone with any information to come forward with what they know.

A Wychavon spokesperson said the large items were cleared on Monday and the rest went on Tuesday.

Sharon Casswell, Wychavon District Council’s client services manager, thanked the residents who reported the ‘dreadful fly-tipping’.

And she reiterated the message about using a reputable company registered on the Environment Agency`s website.

“You are responsible for what happens to your waste and we do investigate and issue fines to those who ignore the rules.”

Anyone wanting to report incidents of fly-tipping or anyone with any information on the Hadley Heath incident should visit www.wychavon.gov.uk or call 01386 565018.
