VALE residents have been urged to check the bus timetables before the service changes next month.
Passengers can now log on to www.worcestershire.gov.uk/bustimetables to find out regular updates of the routes, including those that will change from September 1.
73 services currently subsidised will continue, which means those linking schools, rural areas, health services and link to shopping areas will largely remain in place.
Coun John Smith OBE, county council cabinet member for highways, said: “We’re encouraging anyone that travels by bus in Worcestershire to log on to the dedicated section on our website to check their services ahead of the September 1 change date.
“The county council needs to save around £25million each year until 2017/18 due to funding restrictions so we have had to look at the future of subsidised services to ensure a level of service is provided and that residents are getting value-for-money.
“The final outcome means the vast majority of passengers are still able to access public transport, whether that be subsidised or commercially operated, whilst at the same time realising a £1.4million a year saving for the taxpayer.”
