A ROTTWEILER has found his forever home after spending an incredible 483 days in the care of Dogs Trust Evesham.

Brogue, a male crossbreed, has been successfully adopted with a new family after being found as a stray on April 6, 2024.

After an initial placement failed, with the help from the behaviour team and dedicated canine carers, he learned and developed the skills to make his daily walks less frightening.

Classed as an ‘underdog’ the name given to any dog that has remained in the rehoming centre for more than six months – the chances for getting adopted were getting slimmer.

He needed a kind and patient home, with adopters willing to continue his training and show him the world wasn’t such a scary place after all.

Brogue’s long wait came to an end when Ryan and Maddison welcomed him into their lives in August.

He has found his happy place with them, and they’re very much looking forward to spending their first Christmas together as a family.

“Brogue is doing great and all our family and friends love him, especially my partner’s nephews.

“He has been amazing in the house, loves to greet people, and has learnt not everyone likes to be jumped on when they open the door.

“We are happy to share his journey as he has won over every heart we have introduced him to”, he adopters said.

The charity stresses that every dog is unique, and finding the perfect match can take some time, several months in some cases.

Chris Slight, centre manager at Dogs Trust Evesham, said: “After everything Brogue has been through, seeing him finally living his best life is just wonderful. He needed patience, understanding and a lot of love.

“Ryan and Maddison have given him all of that and more. We’re absolutely thrilled for them and for Brogue, and wish them all a very Merry Christmas.”

Dogs Trust Evesham is open to the public five days a week and people do not need an appointment to visit, meet dogs looking for homes, get advice or apply to adopt.
