The Regal's extension bid passes landmark point

A BOLD bid by the Regal Cinema to raise £50,000 as part of an ambitious extension project has passed the £30,000 mark.

The cash will contribute towards the £825,000 needed for the extension project due to take place later this year.

The project will see the cinema extending onto its fourth floor with a panoramic sky bar with views out to the Malvern Hills, as well as a sixty seater and forty seater cinema screen.

They will also install new lighting and sound systems, and will renovate the limited existing facilities for live performers.

A total of £31,591 has now been raised through generous donations from supporters of The Regal, as well as through customer participation in fund-raising raffles and auctions held at the venue.

The cinema has been trading fantastic money-can’t-buy prizes such as private hire of the forty seater cinema screen and signed memorabilia from live acts including Jasper Carrott and Rick Wakeman.

Ian Wiper, owner of the Regal Cinema, said; “We have been overwhelmed by the support we have received from members of the local community since we began our fundraising efforts this year.

“We are excited about our plans to extend on our fourth floor and can’t wait to welcome our customers into our two new cinema screens and sky bar.”

The winner of the current raffle to win exclusive hire of the forty seater cinema screen for a film of the winner’s choice will be announced at the end of July.

Anyone who wishes to try their luck and take part in the raffle can pop in to the Regal’s box office or call 01386 421007 for more information.
