CREATIVE patients being cared for on Izod ward at Evesham Community Hospital have created two wall hangings for the hospital’s Multi-Faith Room which provides a place where patients relatives or staff can go to find quiet reflection or worship.
All are invited to share this amenity which is intended to provide a warm welcome for anyone of any faith. Those of no faith are also welcome and there is a spiritual area for those who wish to light a candle, meditate or reflect.
Izod Ward provides post-operative, rehabilitation and palliative care and patients, along with staff member Lisa Morgan, designed and produced the two pieces of Gothic style art. They include hand-made flowers and birds to represent nature in a stained glass window effect.
Last week they were presented to Andy Green, the lead Chaplain/Pastoral Support at Evesham Community Hospital to hang in the room.
“I am absolutely delighted to have received these works of art which encompass the warmth of a multi faith, spiritual and secular welcome to all who enter the Multi Faith Room for solace, reflection or prayer,” he said.
Shirley Hodgetts, matron at Evesham Community Hospital said: “We are really pleased to be able to have patients work as a permanent fixture in the hospital. They look fantastic and you can see a lot of time and effort has gone into their creation.”
