Redundant Worcester Warriors staff make online job plea

Evesham Editorial 6th Oct, 2022   0

A PLEA for businesses to help redundant Worcester Warriors staff has been launched online after the playing side of the ailing business was wound up in just 22 seconds.

WRFC Players Ltd, the company through which players and staff are paid, was dissolved in the High Court on Wednesday (October 5). Warriors had no representation in court.

A winding-up petition against WRFC Trading Limited, which remains in administration, has been suspended as HMRC chase the club for an unpaid tax bill of around £6million.

All debts at WRFC Players Ltd, including the sum owed to HMRC, believed to be over £6m, remain outstanding.

Players and coaching staff are now free to leave the Premiership side and winger Duhan van der Merwe became the first Warrior to depart when he returned to Edinburgh Rugby on a long-term deal.

Devastated Warriors staff took to Twitter to post their unique job ‘advert’ which calls on businesses with suitable job vacancies to get in touch.

The post has already attracted a sizable response with and businesses who get in touch will have their vacancy shared with all of those on the Sixways payroll.

Anyone with a vacancy is asked to e-mail their company name and job description to [email protected]
