A POPULAR Evesham and Pershore reading charity has been handed £700 by Evesham Town Council.
The local branch of Read Easy will use the money to continue to help adults in Evesham and Pershore to improve their reading skills.
Read Easy provides free, confidential, one to one coaching from trained volunteers to anyone who struggles with reading, supporting adults so that they can improve their chances in life and work.
Team leader Sue Oxley said “We are very grateful to Evesham Town Council for their generous grant.
“It will enable us to continue to support local residents who need help with reading. If Covid forces us to stay at home again, the council grant will ensure that we can set our coaches and readers up with the technology and resources that will allow them to continue their learning online.”
Coun Julie Tucker said “We like to make awards to local organisations that support our community.
“Reading is an extremely important skill that everyone needs. Unfortunately, some people still leave school having not learnt to read.
“It is good that groups like Read Easy work with those that need the extra help. We hope that the grant will help the group in their important work.”
