THE CHAIRMAN of Evesham United Football Club has described the raid at the team’s clubhouse as a ‘kick in the teeth’ but said the club will move on.

Last Sunday thieves forced their way into the clubhouse at the football team’s grounds on Cheltenham Road by smashing a double glazed window sometime between 12am and 9am.

They stole three TVs, a laptop and mouse as well as bottles of spirits, lighters and chocolates. The door to one of the storage rooms was also kicked in and they damaged one of the generators.

Speaking to the Observer, the club’s chairman Jim Cockerton said: “It is upsetting. This is the second or third time this has happened now in the past few years.

“They haven’t caused too much damage.

“We don’t know yet how much this has cost us – luckily we’ve got insurance.

“It is a pain in the backside and a kick in the teeth, but we’ll get over it and move on.”

Anyone with information is urged to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 0222S of Sunday, August 6.

Information can also be passed on anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website.
