EVESHAM residents are being invited to put their best foot forward and support a charity walk for a popular local cause.

A 5km stroll on the Battlefield Trail, starting at Hampton Ferry at 10.45am with registration from 10.30am will be held tomorrow to raise cash for Evesham Vale Cardiac Rehab.

The charity was set up seven years ago to serve those living in Evesham and surrounding towns and villages.

After starting life in the town’s Rowing Club, the charity is now based at Evesham Leisure Centre and will be the beneficiaries of the extended site to allow them to run classes, meetings, and other associated events.

At present, there are four classes a week serving discharged patients and those further advanced in recovery.

The charity has also launched their ‘Healthy Hearts’ GP referral programme aimed at those identified as being ‘at risk’ of heart disease.

In Wychavon, 18 percent of the population have a long term health issue, and 30 percent of adults are classified as inactive.

The Healthy Hearts programme is a preventative scheme aimed at keeping people out of hospital, and dying prematurely.

Entry is £5 for adults and £2 for under 12s.
