Pupils get to name Dogs Trust's new puppies

YOUNGSTERS at a Vale primary school have given winter-themed names to three Labrador cross puppies at Dogs Trust Evesham.

Pupils at Willersey Primary School recently named the four-month-old dogs Holly, Snowy and Sprout, as part as the school’s ongoing link with the Wickhamford centre to educate children on dog safety.

The puppies were an accidental litter and were handed in to the rehoming centre after their owners were unable to keep them and wanted to ensure they went to the right homes.

The trio are now keeping staff at the rehoming centre busy whilst they wait to head off to their new homes.

Chris Slight, Dogs Trust Evesham rehoming centre manager, said: “The New Year is always a really busy time for us, but luckily we were able to take in the puppies.

“In this case, the owners acted responsibly by bringing them to us to find a home for them, but we see so many unwanted puppies simply abandoned because they were born as a result of the parents not being neutered.

“Neutering is hugely important as it helps to avoid situations like this occurring, and saves the heartbreak of giving up an unwanted litter when owners realise they are unable to care for them.”
