MEMBERS of the public are being urged to get behind two Vale events in order that they stand a chance of being crowned Worcestershire’s best for 2025.

Evesham’s Battle of Evesham festival and Pershore’s bonfire night at The Angel Hotel are going head to head together with seven other finalists from across the county to be called Worcestershire’s Festival and Event of the Year.

Altogether, nine of Worcestershire’s most celebrated events have been shortlisted, showcasing the diverse experiences on offer across the region as part of the Visit Worcestershire Tourism Awards.

From historical re-enactments to comedy festivals, charity art trails to festive favourites, each finalist has been recognised for delivering an outstanding visitor experience.

Owner of the Angel Hotel, Darren Eden said: “Bonfire Night at The Angel is a celebration of community, local musicians and local vendors, combined with the spectacle of performances and fireworks.

“We’d love to see Pershore get behind us in the Visit Worcestershire awards and cast a vote. Helps us shine a light on the fantastic events our town puts together.”

Meanwhile Battle of Evesham director Mick Hurst is hoping that people will back the medieval festival that runs entirely on people power.

“Each year our committee and 80 dedicated volunteers contribute countless hours to keep the festival free to enter and we rely on sponsorship and grants to make this happen.

“A vote for the Battle of Evesham demonstrates public backing, a criteria to gain funding, but winning would also be a huge thank you to our wonderful team,” he said.

The other finalists are:

  • Classic Nostalgia at Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb
  • RHS Malvern Spring Festival
  • Swan Theatre Annual Pantomime
  • The Great Waddle of Worcester
  • The Rik Mayall Comedy Festival
  • Worcester Cathedral Christmas Tree Festival
  • Worcester Film Festival

Councillor Alan Amos, cabinet member for business and skills at Worcestershire County Council, said: “These events, whether run by local volunteers or organised on a larger scale, bring people together and play an important role in attracting visitors to Worcestershire.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for everyone to show their support and appreciation for the organisers who work so hard to make these experiences enjoyable for us all.”

To vote go to the Visit Worcestershire website here.

Voting closes on September 30 and the winner will be announced at the annual Visit Worcestershire Tourism Awards in March 2026.
