A PROLIFIC thief has been sent to prison for shoplifting in Evesham.
Matthew Scramm, aged 44 of no fixed abode, was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison at Kidderminster Magistrates court last Thursday (October 9) after he pleaded guilty.
The offences relate to thefts of clothes and handbags from TK Maxx in Evesham on seven occasions between June and September this year.
Schramm was arrested last Tuesday (October 7) by Pershore and Evesham officers, and subsequently charged to appear in court.
Sergeant Duncan Eades said: “We hope this sentence sends a clear message, deterring other shoplifters and showing that they will be swiftly brought to justice.
“Schramm was a prolific shoplifter who was given a custodial sentence within two days of his arrest.”
