A MULTI-MILLION development of a new state-of-the-art classroom block for students and staff at Prince Henry’s High School has begun.
Following a successful bid for funding from the Department for Education, Prince Henry’s chiefs are celebrating the start of building work on its new £3.4million development at the Victoria Avenue venue.
The building, which will be located on the site of some old temporary classrooms, will comprise 11 classrooms and house the school’s design technology, food technology, art and textiles departments.
Headteacher Dr Tony Evans, said: “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to redevelop our DT and Art facilities at the school, and will create a legacy which will benefit generations of students for decades to come.
“We are very grateful to Nigel Huddleston MP for his support in championing the funding bids which have enabled us to modernise and improve the facilities at Prince Henry’s during the past few years.’
Building work is due to be completed in January 2021 and no disruption to the regular school day is expected during the works.
