Popular car park to remain partially open during major revamp

A POPULAR Pershore car park will remain partially open when six weeks of resurfacing works gets under way.

The improvement works at the High Street car park, next to Asda, will begin on Monday, September 26 and will see the car park resurfaced in four phases to make sure the car park can remain operational during the work.

It will be the first time the car park will be fully resurfaced for the first time since 1994 and will cost Wychavon District Council £160,000.

During the six week period sections will be cordoned off and entrances closed individually depending on the phase being worked on, but the car park will be partially open for all of the six weeks.

Wychavon District Council has worked with Pershore Chamber of Trade so that businesses are aware of the work and the timescales of the improvement project.

Motorists will be able to find alternative parking spots at Abbey Park and the Civic Centre.

Christine Baxter, Parking Services Manager at Wychavon, said: “We’re resurfacing the car park in sections as a way of reducing the impact on users.

“We apologise for the inconvenience that will be caused by areas being closed for short periods, but we hope users can see that this is a better alternative than closing the whole car park.”
