E-SCOOTER users in Evesham have been warned they could be fined if they are found using them in the town.

PC Jake Kibblewhite made the warning after a Worcester man was fined £660, ordered to pay costs of £630 and given six points on his driving licence for using the scooter in a pedestrian area of the city.

The scooters are legally a motor vehicle and are subject to the same laws.

Writing on Twitter, PC Kibblewhite said: “Starting to see these electric scooters on the road and pavements in Evesham now.

“We will be taking action and dealing with offenders. These scooters are not legal to have on the roads or footpaths in Evesham and we are not currently in a trial rental area.”
