POLICE in Pershore trying to track down a stolen quad bike had an unexpected result when they found cannabis hidden in the wheel arch of a van that was parked nearby.
Officers from the South Worcestershire Neighbourhood Crime Fighting Team (NCFT) went to an address in Eckington Road, Eckington, near Pershore were on the trail of a car linked to the stolen bike.
They arrested a 17-year-old boy at the location on suspicion of stealing a car. He has since been charged and bailed to reappear at Worcester Magistrates Court on January 29.
The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with driving a motor vehicle dangerously, driving other than in accordance with a licence, failing to stop a mechanically propelled vehicle when required by a constable, driving on a road a motor vehicle whilst not wearing a seat belt, using a motor vehicle on a road / public place without third party insurance and driving a vehicle with no rear registration plate.
While in the area, the NCFT officers followed their noses to another vehicle not linked to the arrest where they found a substantial amount of cannabis packed in a bag which was hidden in the rear wheel arch of a transit van.
The drugs were removed and have now been destroyed.
