POLICE investigating the two crashes in Evesham yesterday afternoon (Sunday) believe it was the same motorcyclist involved in both incidents.

The first incident happened on Cheltenham Road at about 1.50pm, followed by the second incident near to the roundabout on Falkland Road.

On Cheltenham Road, the crash involved a motorbike and pedal bike which resulted in both riders coming off their motorbike and bicycle.

A man in his 50s, the cyclist, suffered hand injuries which required hospital treatment.

The motorcyclist then got back on his motorbike and continued on with his journey.

West Mercia Police believe the motorcyclist travelled along the A46, between Cheltenham Road and the ‘Strawberry Fields’ roundabout,’ in between the two collisions.

The motorcyclist was then involved in a second crash on Falkland Road with a stationary Volkswagen van.

He came off his  motorbike as a result and suffered from serious head, neck and pelvic injuries.

When officers arrived on the scene they closed the road at Davies Road, with the junction to Hawthorn Road and the roundabout at Davies Road, whilst air ambulance crews treated the motorcyclist.

The 26-year-old motorcyclist was then airlifted to the Major Trauma Centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

Police are keen to ascertain the events leading up to and during both collisions and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collisions or anyone who may have information in relation to them.

Anyone with information is urged to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 404S 140517.

Alternatively, information can be passed on anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
