Police advice for Evesham school run drivers

Evesham Editorial 26th Oct, 2023   0

POLICE officers have been visiting schools in response to reports of nuisance parking in Evesham.

Several complaints have been made regarding the parking at various primary schools in the area at both drop off and pick up times.

Harvington C of E First and Nursery was visited by PC Hoggarth to speak with staff regarding several issues raised regarding parking.

Specific issues with road markings and problem areas were identified for reporting to Worcestershire County Council and the Highways Authority.

Officers will be patrolling the area at relevant times to deal with persistent offenders.

They have also offered advice to reduce the risk of being dealt with by the police.

They say the best thing is to either walk or allow time to find a parking space and be prepared to walk a short distance to the school.

Advice also includes not dropping children off on the yellow zigzag lines, not blocking residents’ driveways or double parking, not parking opposite junctions or within 10 metres of one, and not parking on a bend, dropped kerb or the brow of a hill.

They say drivers must avoid blocking pavements which would force pedestrians into the road and always let children out by the door nearest the kerbside.
