Plenty to see at Open Day

HEAVY horses, craft workers, live music and guided walks are amongst the highlights of the 32nd Tiddesley Wood Open Day this year.

The popular annual event is run by volunteers of Worcestershire Wildlife Trust at their woodland nature reserve on the outskirts of Pershore and the woodland will be carpeted with bluebells so as well as joining in with the activities, visitors can also take in the natural wonders of the wood.

Harry Green, one of the event organisers, explained “For visitors it’s a day of relaxing in a beautiful environment – whether it be browsing the craft stalls, exploring wildlife in our discovery zone or just kicking back and listening to the live music while enjoying one of our homemade lunches.

“With heavy horse demonstrations, Valerie Briggs’ artwork inspired by the natural world, weavers, woodworkers, guided walks, family activities and more, there’s something for everyone.”

The event hosts a Wildlife Discovery Zone complete with microscopes and large screens to help visitors get nose-to-nose with bugs and beasties. Local conservation charities will also be in attendance to help people discover more about Worcestershire’s rare and common wildlife.

As the Trust celebrates 50 years since it was established there will also be a special exhibition to celebrate its history while visitors can toast the special birthday with a glass of Golden Perry made by Pershore College using perry pears from Trust nature reserves throughout Worcestershire.

The event takes place between 10am and 5pm on Sunday, May 6 and costs £3 for adults and £1 for children.

The reserve is half a mile along the Besford/ Croome road from the B4084 Pershore-Worcester road and parking will be available.
