A PILOT has died in a light aircraft crash near Pershore, police have confirmed.
West Mercia Police said the incident happened around 10.45am on Tuesday (August 27) in Woodmancote, near Defford, just south of Pershore.
Officers received reports a small plane had experienced difficulties during take-off, causing it to descend rapidly to the ground.
A 69-year-old man was confirmed dead at the scene. No-one else was injured during the incident.
A team of AAIB inspectors was sent to the accident to gather evidence yesterday. West Midlands Ambulance Service sent a paramedic officer, an ambulance and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford.
The Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) will now carry out a full investigation of the crash.
