MUSIC lovers in Pershore can look forward to an afternoon of sounds this bank holiday weekend accompanied by some family fun at the town’s community stadium.

Party on the Pitch on Sunday, May 25 is a free event which features four acts who will be performing on a festival stage.

Organised by Pershore Town FC, the headliner is actress and singer/guitarist Abi Phillips best known for playing Liberty Savage in the Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks.

She will be supported by Gravy Train, The Lisa Voletta Band and Kings of the Quarter Mile.

For youngsters there promises to be plenty of entertainment in the form of a bouncy castle, games and activities whilst food stalls will sell tasty treats.

The event opens at 1pm with music from 3pm and an official opening by the newly elected mayor of Pershore, Councillor Julie Hemming at 2.45pm.

Any money raised goes towards buying kit for the club’s 230 youth team players. Club chair Jason Neville told the Observer that ‘every single penny raised on the day is going towards the kids’.

“Over the last few years PTFC has engaged with in excess of 300 to 400 families from Pershore and the surrounding area, this is the club’s way of thanking the community for their support and also raises valuable funds for the children we support every year.

“This is the second Party on the Pitch, our volunteers and helpers are greatly appreciated and through substantial sponsorship from Core Facilities we have managed to put on this event for free so a huge thank you to them,” he said.

Tickets are available free online or just turn up on the day, any donations will be used for the young children supported by the club.
