PERSHORE Tennis Centre has made a smashing start to 2017 by serving up almost £300 for charity.

The club donated £185 to Leukaemia CARE and £68 to Acorns Children’s Hospice, after raising the funds through its annual Mulled Wine Tournament on Saturday, January 7. More than 20 members and supporters played in two round robin groups and enjoyed mulled wine and a selection of food.

In December last year, the club hosted its annual ‘Junior Christmas Party’ which raised £68 for Acorns Children Hospice, just weeks after raising £1,000 for Children in Need.

Steve Bauer, the club’s head coach, said: “Well done to all the committee and members who made the events so successful.

“Pershore Tennis Centre aims to encourage more people playing tennis through offering free opportunities to play. We have a fantastic facility boasting five outdoor courts and three indoor courts.”
