THE ANNUAL Pershore Plum Festival race night took place on Tuesday night at Worcester Racecourse.
The Land O’ Plums Chase was first run on Weir Meadows, Pershore, in 1899 and was brought back ten years ago.
Many people dressed in purple for the event which was attended by the newly-crowned Plum Princess.
She was accompanied by festival mascots Prunella, Eggbert and Queen Victoria.
Throughout the evening, live music from the Plum Stones was enjoyed by all in the marquee, despite the rain.
Jenny Cheshire, executive director of Worcester Racecourse, said: “We thoroughly enjoy hosting the Pershore Plum Festival Race Evening each year, and this year was special as we celebrated the 10th anniversary.
“The event was a success despite the weather, and racegoers went the extra mile to join in with the spirit of evening dressing in purple whilst enjoying the racing.”
Angela Taylor, Wychavon Tourism Officer and Chair of Pershore Plum Festival, said: “The Pershore Plum theme really helps boost the profile of our festival.
“We aim to bring people to Pershore that may never have visited to join in with the spirit of what it is all about.”
