PERSHORE was beaten to the top spot of being the hottest place in the UK yesterday (Tuesday), according to the Met Office.
As the UK basked in the sun on the hottest day of the year so far, the temperatures soared in the town to a sweltering 33.4°C- making it the hottest place in the country for a time.
However, at about 5.25pm forecasters confirmed that Pershore had been pipped to the top spot after a top temperature of 33.5°C was recorded in Brize Norton.
Pershore though was hotter than popular holiday destinations such as Barcelona (31°C), Cancun in Mexico (29°C) and Bridgetown in Barbados (31°C).
Although temperatures have dropped slightly from their peak, it is still expected to reach 29°C in the Vale today (Wednesday).
