Pershore man honoured for winning slogan

EVESHAM’S and Pershore’s MPs joined life-long train enthusiast Viv Moss to help celebrate his award-winning slogan to back faster and more frequent Worcestershire rail services to London.

Mid Worcestershire MP Sir Peter Luff joined his neighbour from West Worcestershire, Harriett Baldwin, to present the Pershore man with a House of Commons watch as his prize for creating

the slogan ‘Fast Track Worcester’ to encourage investment in rail services to county.

Viv’s phrase was selected in a competition judged by local MPs, Worcestershire County Council leader Adrian Hardman and LEP executive director Gary Woodman.

Sir Peter said: “It is truly fitting that the winner of my competition is a railway enthusiast who lives only a stone’s throw from Pershore train station. His grandfather was even a signalman on the line.

“Mr Moss’s entry was spot on in communicating our ambitions to get better services for rail users.

“I have spent all my parliamentary career lobbying for improvements to the service and I hope this slogan will be the clarion call for the next generation of MPs and local councillors to

deliver yet more progress.”

Pershore MP Harriett Baldwin helped to mark the achievement and offered her backing to Sir Peter’s campaign.

“Sir Peter has led the way helping to deliver an important stretch of doubling of the Cotswold

Line. I will continue to work with colleagues to press for the completion of this work to

Worcester and Malvern.

“Fast Track Worcester is an important focus. As a county we badly need faster, more frequent and more reliable train services to and from the capital and I know that I and my Westminster colleagues will use Viv’s phrase to help lobby Government for greater investment.”
