AFTER a 16-year absence Pershore is ‘back on the Round Table’ map after the group officially re-chartered.

A party was held at Pershore Football Club last month to celebrate the milestone reached by the group behind the bid for the town to have a Round Table club once again.

Pershore Round Table was originally chartered in the 1970s and continued until 2001 when it finally ceased. This left the town without a Round Table club, with the nearest clubs found in Evesham and Worcester.

Now the town once again has a re-chartered Round Table club, members will be bringing back the Santa Sleigh this Christmas which will light up the faces of many youngsters as well as raising money for local charities.

Pershore Round Table Chairman, Ian Thorner, said: “We were all committed to bringing Round Table back to Pershore and this celebration is the culmination of over a year’s hard work.

“Re-Chartering Pershore & District Round Table puts Pershore back on the Round Table map and is a reflection of the growth in numbers nationally.

“This really is an exciting time for Round Table and I encourage any guys aged 18 to 45 to get in touch and see what we’re all about.

“We’ve all put in a shift to get things moving since April and we’ve all had a laugh doing it. I’ve met some amazing new friends along the way and couldn’t be prouder to be the new Chairman. There’s an exciting year ahead of us but we’ve got the fun, we’ve the style, we’ve got the momentum, let’s take all that and knock this tabling year out of the park.”

The club is looking for new members and men aged 18 to 45-years-old are able to join.
