THE NEW chairman of Pershore’s Vale Harmony The A Cappella Fellas has made his first priority to increase the size of the chorus by 50 per cent.
Chris Dobbins was elected chair at its AGM this month.
He has taken over at a time the chorus is struggling to survive with only 13 regular singers.
Chris said: “We sing in four part harmony and we need to strengthen each of our four sections: bass, baritone, leads and tenors.
“We’re just about to welcome a new tenor but we have to find more men in each section so that we can continue to perform well and raise money for charities.”
Chris, who was born and bred in Pershore and still lives in the town, has sung with the chorus for 40 years and he guarantees any newcomer a warm welcome.
“Whether you work in an office or factory or hospital or wherever, if you find yourself singing a tune to yourself then come and give us a try, singing with other guys making a beautiful sound.”
The chorus rehearses every Wednesday evening at the St Andrews Centre in Pershore.
