A PERSHORE charity shop has been nominated for a prestigious national award.

Staff and volunteers at Acorns Children’s Hospice’s charity store, on the High Street, have been shortlisted for the ‘Team of the Year’ award at the annual Charity Retail Association Awards, which recognises employees who go above and beyond for their shop’s charity.

Store manager Lynn Smith and her team are well known in the community and take an active role in supporting events in Pershore, including last year’s Pershore Plum Festival, where the team made sales of more than £5,000 towards Acorns’ work of caring for children and supporting their families.

Lynn said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be nominated and really excited for the awards night. We’ve got a brilliant team here so we’re proud to be recognised in this way.

“We all work so well together, both in the shop and in the community to help raise funds for Acorns.”

Val Hammond, Acorns retail general manager, said: “Lynn and her staff are a fine example of teamwork and innovation in fund-raising and fully deserve this nomination.

“The team organise events throughout the year that not only help bring the community together, but also help raise much-needed funds for our work. We wish them the very best of luck on the night.”

The Charity Retail Association Awards will take place at the University of Nottingham on Monday, June 26.
