PCC makes investment into digital forensics in crime fight

POLICE and Crime Commissioner for West Mercia John Campion has invested in digital forensics which help investigations move faster and ensure victims have their devices returned quicker.

The investment was made to meet the demand placed on police by growing technology with devices holding more data than ever before.

The benefits include: improved safeguarding for both children and adults, better services for victims, complainants and communities – collecting only data which is needed so they can have their devices returned – and support with their recovery.

There will also be a quicker turnaround for charging offenders in a bid to bring them to justice sooner.

Mr Campion said “This is an example of how my investments can make a real impact on victims and communities.

“Whilst a HMICFRS report released today shows that there are many improvements to be made at national level, I am pleased victims in West Mercia will have the many benefits this technology brings.

“The commitment I make, is part of a wider investment in technology across West Mercia which has a positive impact on our communities.”
