PCC aims to plant a thin green line

THE Police and Crime Commissioner for West Mercia John Campion has launched a new initiative to plant a number of trees as part of the Queens Green Canopy initiative.

The trees, to be planted across Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire and Telford, are aimed at reducing the impact of policing on the environment as well as commemorating the Queen’s 70th year on the throne and marking the passing of her husband, Prince Philip.

PCC Campion said: “I am committed to reducing the environmental impact on policing, and this is great project which will improve our environment, in a sustainable way for generations to come.

“As commissioner I join others across West Mercia and up and down country, in planting these trees as a symbol of hope and faith in the future.”

Scoping work for the project is already underway. in partnership with West Mercia Police, to determine how many trees will be planted and their locations ready for them to be put in come the autumn.
