EVESHAM and Pershore residents are being invited to commemorate those who fought and died in war at the towns’ annual remembrance parades.

Evesham’s parade and service will take place on Sunday, November 13, where members of Evesham Town Council and ex-service personnel will gather at the Town Hall in Market Square at 10.15am.

The parade will then march down Bridge Street to the War Memorial at 10.50am, via the Crown Courtyard and Abbey park, led by Avonbank Band and ex-service Standard Bearers.

A two minute silence will take place at the War Memorial at 11am, before wreaths are laid.

The Avonbank Band will then lead the procession to All Saints’ Church for the service, before taking a salute in Vine Street, via Abbot Reginald’s Gateway and Market Square.

Pershore’s remembrance parade will take place on Sunday, November 13 at 10am, where it will march from Asda car park through High Street, Broad Street, Church Walk, Church Row and Pershore Abbey, being led by the RAF Cosford Voluntary Band.

Following the annual remembrance service in the Abbey, the parade will march the reverse route and there will be a salute taken outside the Town Hall by wing commander Philip Sagar, of the Royal Auxiliary Air Force.

A reception will then be held at Pershore Working Men’s and Old Comrades Club, where wing commander Sagar will present Poppy Appeal certificates to long-serving collectors.

On Armistice Day, Friday, November 11, the traditional service will be held at the Cross of Sacrifice in Pershore Cemetery, where Major Roderick Short, with the blessing of the High Commission of Canada, will represent the Royal Canadian Air Force.

There will also be a Royal British Legion presence at the Garden of Remembrance in Chapman Court at 11am to observe the two minute silence.
