Parent and toddler creative movement classes launched

Evesham Editorial 7th Nov, 2016 Updated: 9th Nov, 2016   0

BRAND new creative movement classes for parents and toddlers have been launched in Evesham.

The classes, called Grown-Ups and Wigglers, will start at Wallace House Community Centre next Friday (November 11) from 10am to 11am after receiving support from Wychavon District Council and the Vale of Evesham Network of Artists.

As well as allowing parents and toddlers to exercise, the classes have been designed to help youngsters develop essential co-ordination and balance skills, and strengthen the bond between parent or carer and toddler.

Jenny Davis, Director of Arts Uplift, said: “The feedback we’ve had from similar classes elsewhere has been great, with one mother saying how she and her two year old daughter had so much fun and that it was such a great way to get them exercising.

“As a parent myself I found it difficult to exercise and keep fit when my child was under five. I couldn’t afford the gym and the local leisure centres didn’t offer crèche facilities, so I thought why not offer something where children aged two to four can come along with a parent or a carer and exercise in a fun way together.”

The classes are taken by a professional dance teacher and cost £5.50 for one grown-up and one toddler per session, or £7.50 for one adult and two children per session, and refreshments are provided.
