A TOP British Paralympian paid a visit to a Vale school this week to inspire youngsters about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
Jack Rutter, from the England Paralympic football team, spent the day with pupils at Broadway First School on Wednesday where he organised activities for the youngsters and talked about his inspirational sporting career.
The day started with each class participating in a fitness circuit designed by Jack which required children to complete between one and two minutes of continuous exercises for four different activities.
Following the fitness circuits, Jack led an assembly to talk about his football career, his injuries, and the number of goals he has scored and his many achievements to date.
The Paralympian told pupils how he captained the Great Britain team at last year’s Paralympic Games in Rio. He also let the youngsters try on one of his England caps.
Staff at the Broadway school now hope Jack’s visit has inspired pupils to exercise on a more regular basis and to take up more sports.
The school has also decided to encourage this weekly, with all of the youngsters now being owners of a ‘PE passport.’
Pupils can record what exercises they participate in each week and how many pieces of fruit and vegetables they have eaten with the aim of helping them to lead healthier lives.
