COUNCIL chiefs have revealed a host of right royal celebrations across Evesham and Pershore to mark the coronation of King Charles III.

Official events will begin on May 6 with the crowning of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort. This will be followed by the Sunday community Coronation Big Lunch.

The public are also being urged to contact Wychavon and register their community projects and organisations for The Big Help Out event on May 8 and they can take part by volunteering or joining the projects to support the local area.

Creative youngsters from across Evesham will have their artwork displayed for all to see on the weekend following a poster competition by Evesham Town Council.

The final designs will be on display during a packed day of events next Saturday (May 6) as Evesham gets set to mark the coronation of the King.

A Civic Parade will kick off the festivities at 10.15am from St Laurence’s Church, along Vine Street and towards the Market Square.

Mayor of Evesham Coun Mark Goodge will lead the parade with mace bearers and Evesham’s Town crier in ceremonial dress.

Once in Market Square the celebrations will be officially launched with visitors invited to watch the ceremony from 10.45am on the big screen.

There will also be free activities in the Town Hall for children on the day including a puppet show, magicians, balloon modelling and face painting.

Meanwhile in Pershore, fancy hats will be on the menu as the town gets set to host its own Coronation Big Lunch on Sunday (May 7)

Taking place from 12midday to 3.45pm, residents are invited to bring their own picnic along with friends and family to the event in Abbey Park by the bandstand.

Entertainment by Griff Collins and an open mic session are also on the menu before a service in Pershore Abbey from 4pm.

The event is being organised by Pershore Rotary Club alongside a show window competition for town traders which will come to an end next Friday (May 5).
