A CLASSICAL orchestra is travelling to Pershore to put on a special music workshop for people suffering with dementia.

Orchestra of the Swan will play at Pershore Number 8 Community Arts Centre on Wednesday (August 17) as part of Wychavon District Council’s continuing series of music workshops.

Attendees are encouraged to clap and sing as the Stratford-based orchestra play their instruments and performers will also give an insight into life as a professional musician, as well as inviting others to share their memories and thoughts on their favourite pieces of music.

Jenny Davis, arts development officer at Wychavon, said: “I’m delighted these workshops and all of our musicians have committed to such an entertaining programme that will continue all the way into 2017.

“The feedback we’ve been receiving shows the workshops have a very positive impact on people by reducing isolation, getting them involved and helping them to make new friends.”

The workshop takes place from 1.30pm to 3pm and costs £2.
