Opening doors to more Vale volunteers

A CALL for passionate volunteers to help out in the Bretforton Community Shop and Evesham area is taking place to support National Volunteer Week.

To coincide with Volunteer Week which began on Monday (June 1) to Sunday (June 7), Bretforton Community Shop is reaching out for more volunteers as a busy summer of events approaches.

Throughout the week several businesses attened the shop and community club next door in search of volunteers including Evesham Volunteer Centre, Rooftop Housing and The Fleece Inn.

Manager of Bretforton Community Shop, Amber Eggleton said: “We will be promoting volunteering throughout the week, where there will be talks and tasters.

“Volunteering to work in the Shop is an extremely rewarding and fun experience and can be valuable if you’re currently unemployed or a school leaver wanting to build up skills and work experience.”

Shop volunteer Kim Carter said: “We will be serving tea, coffee and homemade cakes at the Bretforton Community Club next for to the shop.

“It can be for just two hours a week, but volunteering really does make a difference and it’s a great shop that really does bring the village together.

“We need more community shops, volunteers don’t have to be from Bretfoton as anyone is welcome. The great thing is it’s not a money making scheme, just a way to bring the community together and make friends in the process.”
