THE MUCH-LOVED Worcestershire Open Studios art event is set to return in August – and entry is now open for submissions.
The extravaganza sees artists and creators across the county throw open their doors to the public. Thus year it will be held from August 19 to 28.
Anyone who lives in or has a studio in Worcestershire can submit their work and, like previous years, the organisers are looking to showcase the diverse range of creative talent there is across the county.
Among works being sought are paintings, sculpture, printmaking, jewellery, ceramics, photography, textiles, furniture making and lots more.
Gillian Simpson, from the Worcestershire Open Studios, said: “For artists and creators it’s an amazing platform to increase their exposure, meet buyers, gain feedback, build experience and encourages artists to look at how they can develop and sell their artwork.
“It isn’t just about what happens during the ten days though, we’ve seen lots of artists start conversations during Open Studios that lead to opportunities including commissions, teaching engagements and approaches to participate in other exhibitions.
“Our website and printed guide do get used as a directory of talent in the county.”
This year, younger artists will be able to take part as some of the entry barriers have been removed, such as cost of entry and suitable studio.
Artists aged 30 and under will benefit from a reduced registration fee and a system will be in place for artists to seek or offer studio space for the duration of the event to support other artists.
For any artists who are interested in taking part and want to know more there is a drop-in session on between 4pm and 7pm on March 31 at The Artery Gallery, Arch 28, Croft Road, Worcester.
This will give artists the chance to meet the organisers, and some artists who have taken part in previous years, to answer any questions they may have.
