JUBILANT campaigners have hailed the decision to axe a controversial trial which saw a one-way system introduced on a busy Evesham street.
Worcestershire County Council revealed last May a section of Avon Street would be made one-way from the High Street traffic signals as far as the junction with Brick Kiln Street.
The move attracted condemnation from local residents and town councillor Emma Nishigaki launched an online petition and forwarded objections to highways bosses over the move.
County chiefs have now confirmed the experiment will be reversed and traffic flow restored to the previous set up with work set to take place in the coming weeks.
