THIS year’s Evesham 10K has been officially launched and race organisers are hoping a record number of runners will take part.
Organised by Evesham Vale Running Club, this is the 10th outing of the popular race which first began in 2008 and this year’s event will take place on Sunday, July 9, starting at 10am on the Crown Meadow.
The course will take in the historic town centre, through Evesham’s award-winning parks and alongside the River Avon.
Race organisers have this year chosen Evesham and District Mental Health Support Services (EDMHSS) as the event’s chosen charity partner.
Entry will cost £15 for non-club members and £13 club runners before the event. On the day it will cost £18 for non-club runners and £16 for club runners.
There will also be short races for children of different age groups which will start at 11.30am on the Crown Meadow. Entry on the day will cost £3.
Race organiser Colin Tether said: “We are really pleased to join up with EDMHSS for this event. Mental health is a big issue nowadays and we are looking for a huge entry from local people to show we care and want to help.
“All runners in the 10K race will receive a special medal and a T-shirt. All the kids will receive medals. Please come along and enjoy the races.”
Sally Earley, from EDMHSS, said: “Evesham and District Mental Health Support Services are delighted to be working in partnership with the members of the 10K race.
“We are very aware of how important physical exercise is as an aid to mental health and we wish all the runners the very best on the day. We will be there cheering them on and helping out.”
