AN ‘INTELLIGENT’ and ‘sensitive’ Vale police officer has been rewarded for the contribution he has made to the community.

PC Les Pegler was presented with the annual Police Trophy Award, which recognises the work officers do throughout the district, by Wychavon District Council’s chairman.

He was first posted to Evesham Police Station in 1987 and he spent until 2005 working in Wychavon before a spell working in specialist departments within West Mercia Police.

“I am naturally extremely proud to have been awarded the trophy.” he said. “I have just been doing my job.

“It is a fitting end to my police career and I have enjoyed every minute, some more than others.”

PC Pegler returned to Evesham in October 2012 where he took up his current role as a Safer Neighbourhood Constable, which sees him look after the Broadway and Evesham Rural South areas.

The district council said the officer has committed the whole of his police career to protect others from harm and providing the vulnerable with reassurance and comfort.

Coun Lynne Duffy, chairman of the district council who presented the award, said: “PC Pegler personifies the dedication of the vast majority of police officers in Wychavon, and has an intelligent, considered and sensitive approach to policing.

“I wish him every success in his future career.”
