Offering support for firms

A NEW business support hub has been created at the Civic Centre in Pershore to support microbusinesses and new start-ups.

The Pillar features five fully furnished rooms as well as access to two meeting rooms, a shared kitchen and co-working area.

Other benefits include free parking, free high speed, reliable WI-FI and flexible low-cost rental terms with no fixed contracts.

Two of the five units have already been let with the three remaining units available to rent from £250 to £300 a month with all costs included in the rental fee.

Businesses in The Pillar will also have help accessing grants and other advice from Worcestershire Business Central as well as advice from Wychavon’s in-house economic development team.

The Pillar is one of Wychavon’s promises in its corporate strategy to support the growth of the local economy.

Coun Richard Morris, executive board member for Economy said: “Small businesses, of any size, are vital to our economy but we wanted to create something specifically to help nurture those companies just starting out.

“The Pillar provides a space where companies can grow and develop in a supported environment while sharing some of the costs.

“The rolling monthly contract also means people can try it out with little commitment or risk. With the pandemic affecting our working behaviour we believe this initiative is ideally timed,” he added.
