Not satisfied - residents anger at Pershore policing

FRUSTRATED Pershore residents spelt out their anger at the lack of action taken over their crime concerns during a meeting with Police and Crime Commssioner John Campion.

Although improvements have been seen, Mr Campion was left in doubt residents are still not completely satisfied with the service they are receiving.

The PCC returned to Pershore, following his Community Conversation in May, to provide an update to residents following a call for change.

It was clear from the first Community Conversation that residents were unhappy with the service they were receiving and wanted to see change.

Mr Campion reported back on the results from his second of two bespoke surveys which gave residents the opportunity to explain whether they had felt the impact of improvements in local policing.

The PCC was also joined by West Mercia Police’s Temporary Chief Constable Alex Murray and South Worcestershire Area Commander, Supt Rebecca Love, who gave an update on the work being done in and around Pershore to tackle concerns and improve the visibility and accessibility of officers.

“I want to thank those who attended, as well as West Mercia Police’s Temporary Chief Constable Alex Murray who heard first-hand the concerns of the community,” Mr Campion said.

“When I hosted my first Community Conversation it was clear that residents felt their concerns and priorities weren’t being addressed.

“I welcome the positive changes since then, but it is clear there is still work to do. I will ensure we build on these improvements and continue to work in partnership to ensure we rebuild confidence with the public to ensure they get the service they both need and deserve.”

T/Chief Constable Alex Murray said: “It was a pleasure for me to go on patrol in Pershore. The survey shows there is clearly more for us to do and I want to reassure the community we’re committed to tackling crime, anti-social behaviour and road safety issues in Pershore and beyond.”
