Nordic Walking comes to Evesham - The Evesham Observer

Nordic Walking comes to Evesham

ARROW and Arden Nordic Walking, which is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels, is finally coming to Evesham.

Classes are being held at Crown Meadow and Abbey Park.

Adding the Nordic Walking poles makes it feel easier than walking without poles and offers a complete body workout.

Nordic Walking is a specific fitness technique and is not to be confused with trekking, hill walking or trail running as the poles are not planted in front of the walker/runner but in a manor that increases the use of the upper body.

Kathrin Foster, instructor and owner of Arrow and Arden Nordic Walking said it enables participants to exercise 90 per cent of our muscles whilst burning up to 46 per cent more calories compared to ordinary walking.

“I am very happy Wychavon District Council has given me permission to run classes at Crown Meadow and Abbey Park in Evesham.

“I want to change people’s lives and assist them to enjoy our beautiful countryside at the same time as improve their health and wellbeing, which is why I offer free taster sessions to all that want to have a go.”

One participant, Julie, from Tanworth, said: “I started Nordic walking with Kathrin last September and can honestly say it is certainly one of my best decisions. “It is an excellent form of exercise which is fun and sustainable.”
