No trains from Evesham this weekend as national rail strike hit services

Rob George 12th Aug, 2022   0

RAIL commuters across Evesham and Pershore are being warned to expect disruption due to industrial action by the RMT, Aslef and the TSSA.

Drivers and train crews will strike tomorrow (Saturday), on Thursday (August 18) and next Saturday (August 20) in the ongoing row over pay and working conditions.

The action will again decimate services across the GWR network with services unable to operate across many routes.

A significantly reduced temporary timetable has been put in place and on strike days an extremely limited service will operate between 7am and 6.30pm.

While GWR has pledged to operate as many trains as possible there will only be services between Bristol and Paddington and Reading to Oxford tomorrow (Saturday).

Disruption is expected on Sunday (August 14) and there will be no service between Oxford and Worcester and Hereford.

Normal timetables are expected on Monday and Tuesday and most of Wednesday with some late night changes ahead of the second day of strike action.

GWR chiefs have warned of a ‘significantly limited service’ next Thursday (August 18) with no trains on the North and South Cotswolds lines and the Worcester to Gloucester Greenford branch line.

Disruption will continue into Friday (August 19) and another extremely limited service next Saturday (August 20).

Services will start later and finish much earlier than normal and again there will be no trains on the North and South Cotswolds lines and the Worcester to Gloucester Greenford branch line.

Customers who have already purchased tickets for strike days can claim a full refund or amend their ticket; those who travel and are delayed may be entitled to delay repay compensation if they are delayed by 15 minutes or more.
