No business like the family business

A PRODIGAL daughter has returned to take over the family business in Wyre Piddle.

For the last ten years Alice FitzGerald, has been working in London as a wardrobe mistress on many West End shows, which included Shrek and the Bodyguard.

Now she is preparing to take over the helm at ‘Fitzanything’, an interior design and soft furnishing business which has been run in the village by her mother Gini for 30 years.

The well-established business, which includes the creation of curtains, roman blinds as well as upholstery, has a bursting book of satisfied clients including The Royal Grammer School, Worcester.

Alice’s move is fitting as the company’s logo also has a biblical feel reflecting Jesus, in Matthew 19:24 saying “it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of A needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!”

The 33-year-old has already rebranded the business and is growing their social media profile.

“My mum is a hard act to follow but I definitely have a good teacher and I am learning a lot from her,” she said.

“It is important that we look after our stalwart customers but I am also looking forward to working with new clients and taking the business forward.”
