INDEPENDENT Nigel Deacon has been elected as the new Evesham town councillor for Avon following a by-election.
He was elected to serve residents in the ward on a turnout of just 11 per cent in a by-election called following the resignation of former representative Emma Nishigaki.
Coun Deacon polled 103 votes, 27 ahead of Conservative John Clatworthy with Barmy Lord Brockman of the Monster Raving Loony Party in third with 32 votes.
