A FARMERS market with a range of fresh goods will be held in Evesham this weekend.

Local businesses including Meadwell and JellyPickleJam will be selling fruit and veg with locally grown asparagus, sausage rolls, pies and a charity cake stall.

The event takes place today (Saturday) on Tesco’s car park off Worcester Road from 9am to 3pm.

MEMBERS of Pershore Town Council have voted to re-elect Coun Tony Rowley as Mayor for the coming civic year.

Coun Robert Gillmor, who has been serving as the deputy mayor, was also voted in as the deputy mayor elect at a meeting on April 19.


PERSHORE residents are being invited to submit their questions for a hustings event being organised by the town’s Churches Together group.

Harriett Baldwin (Conservative), Richard Chamings (UKIP), Julian Roskams (Green Party), Daniel Walton (Labour and Dennis Wharton (Liberal Democrats) will face residents at the event at Pershore Baptist Church on Sunday, May 3 from 7.30pm to 9.30pm

ASPIRING artists and photographers interested in exhibiting their work are being sought by Pershore’s Number 8 Community Arts Centre.

The popular venue aim to promote high quality semi-professional and professional visual art work from within and beyond the county of Worcestershire.

It also provides the local amateur visual arts community with an opportunity to exhibit and sell their work.

The gallery space is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm and one hour before evening shows.

The deadline for submissions is Tuesday (April 28) at midday.

STUDENTS across Evesham and Pershore are being invited to think about their future and visit an open day at Pershore College.

A talk and tour will be held at Pershore College on Wednesday (April 29) from 5.30pm to 6.30pm and is for students of all ages and at all study levels.

There will also be a chance to talk to current students and tutors, view the college and learn more about life on campus.

THE PERSHORE Branch of the Royal British Legion’s Women’s Section are inviting the public to join them on a trip to Shrugborough Hall.

The day will be spent exploring the estate, with restaurants and cafés in the grounds offering up to 20 per cent discount.

The coach will leave Broad Street, Pershore at 9.30am, returning from Shrugborough at 3.30pm, with tickets costing £15.

MEMBERS of the Evesham Branch of the Royal Air Force Association and the Royal British Legion Evesham Branch will hold a service to mark the end of the Second World War.

The branches hope Vale residents to come together on the special day of the service which will be officiated by Canon Peter Burch and give thanks to all the local heroes who served in the war.

Secretary Robin Phillips said: “We hope many of the Vale community will be able to attend the service to give tribute to the men who served in all three services along with the nurses, firemen and police officers who worked tirelessly for Britain after the war.

“Please come to the service and then go and have a party and enjoy yourselves, we have to be grateful for victory and 70 years without a world war.”

The event will take place on VE Day (May 8) from 11am at the All Saints Church, Evesham.
